Patents on drugs are essential for the biotech and pharma industries, but
can you also patent a protein or a gene? What about a micro-organism, plant
or animal? Or a human?
Bioscience patent expert, Dr. Philip Webber, will be discussing the above and how the main criteria for patentability (novelty, inventive step, etc.) are applied to the patenting of bioscience inventions at the BioTrinity conference and networking event in Oxford on 28 March 2007. The delegates will also be invited to consider a number of case studies which will explore further various aspects of the patent systems in the UK and elsewhere.
