BIA Hot Topics

Dr. Philip M. Webber has been invited by the UK BioIndustry Association to give a talk at their "Hot Topics in IP" seminar on 18 October 2006 in London. Dr. Webber's presentation will be on "Disclosure requirements and guidelines on bioprospecting - An update including a review of the Chatham House Report". Bioprospecting is the obtaining and exploitation (usually by multi-national companies) of biological materials from biologically-diverse areas such as rainforests. The regulation of such activities is currently being discussed at a number of international fora, and particularly whether enforcement provisions should be introduced via the patent system.
