An article by Alex Piésold on the "New UK Registered Designs Law" has been cited by the Australian Senate in their deliberations on the provisions of the Designs Bill 2002. The article, published in the US journal Intellectual Property Today, was used by the Senate's Economics Legislation Committee as evidence of the "must fit, must match" exceptions under the UK Registered Designs Act 1949 and the right to repair defence under the new UK law.
